Why knowing where Aries in your birth chart is so important right now

For those of you who don't know the language of astrology yet, or are just beginning, let me break a few things down first. In astrology, this and that are true, just like in life. It's often about perspective. We can't take the energies of the cosmos literally, but we can use them in our self-reflection to help us see the patterns in our lives and work with them instead of letting them work against us. My saying is "knowing is half the battle." My goal as a spiritual teacher and astrologer is to teach the language of astrology so that everyday people can use it to their advantage to see their life from a different perspective, and to learn patience and compassion for themselves and others.

Why does life feel "stuck" right now?

Many people are currently feeling like life has stopped, paused, or is stuck in some area — maybe as a lack of energy and drive, or a lack of motion in a particular part of life. When we want to understand what's going on, we start by checking the "cosmic weather": what signs the planets are currently moving through, and whether they're in retrograde. Then we look at where those signs fall in our personal chart.

What is a birth chart?

Your personal chart is a snapshot of the cosmos at the exact moment of your first breath in this life. It's imprinted onto a wheel of 12 houses, each divided by 30 degrees of a zodiac sign. Every planet was passing through a particular zodiac sign at the moment you were born, and the house that sign falls in tells you what area of life it affects. Then, when we overlay the current positions of the planets onto your birth chart, we can see where today's cosmic energy is touching your personal one.

Sometimes a current planet forms an aspect, a certain angle of contact, with a planet in your natal chart, and that's what creates a challenge or a positive moment. Other times, a planet is just passing through a house without stirring anything up.

Why does this feel so intense right now, collectively?

The slow-moving planets Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Pluto affect all of us in similar ways, because we were born into an era where these planets sat in the same signs. But since 2026, all of the slow-moving planets have changed signs at once, something that never happens. That means we're all feeling different areas of our lives shift simultaneously. As a collective, we're peeling away old layers and really feeling the challenge of it.

Today's focus: Saturn in Aries

I want to talk about one of the most prominent challenges right now: Saturn, the karmic, strict "father" of the zodiac, is passing through Aries, the sign of action, and at times, anger and aggression.

Aries can get a bad reputation, but at its core, this sign is made up of doers who are simply looking for ways to release their pent-up energy. As I said earlier, this and that are true. Aries isn't necessarily about anger or impatience, but about needing to release energy. And right now, Saturn isn't allowing that release. Saturn restricts us so we can restructure how we do things, like a strict father who only wants us to succeed, holding us back so we learn to do things efficiently. Now imagine that restriction landing in Aries, the sign that just wants to go, go, go!
